Q: What is the FPT-5000 ?
A: The FPT-5000 is a Fiber Optic cellular repeater for CDMA, GSM and AMPs.
When utilized with our RPT-9000
cellular extender, the FPT-5000 allows the antenna from the
RPT-9000 to be extended over fiber optic cable, up to 50km/30 miles
away. This allows the RPT-9000 to operate when obstacles like hills,
mountains and large buildings block the line of sight. The FPT-5000
can be utilized with other 3rd party equipment which has RF based
signal. The FPT-5000 comes as a complete link set with two units for
each side of the fiber optic cable.
Q: What makes the FPT-5000 different
from other cellular repeaters ?
A: The FPT-5000 converts RF outputs from the
RPT-9000 or and just about
any wireless radio and sends over single mode fiber cable. At the
other end, another FPT-5000 converts it back to RF for attachment to
an antenna. This distance can be up to 50km/30 miles. This sets the
FPT-5000 apart from other solutions, especially when used with the
RPT-9000.
Q: What type of cellular service can the
FPT-5000 repeat and extend ?
A: The FPT-5000 is transparent to the type of service or information
within the service. It only cares about the frequency. This means
the unit will pass CDMA, GSM or AMPs transparently. The FPT-5000
passes the voice, data or video to the cell phones transparently.
Q: What frequency does the FPT-5000
repeat ?
A: The FPT-5000 will pass any RF signal from 10khz to 3Ghz. This
means you can use it with other types of wireless radios that
operate under 3Ghz.
Q: Will the FPT-5000 repeat cellular
data services ?
A: Yes, since the FPT-5000 only cares about the frequency and not
the type of service, it will pass all the features that are provided
to your cell phone.
Q: How many antennas does the FPT-5000
require ?
A: The FPT-5000 link requires at least (1) antenna. The opposite
link end requires a RF port from either the
RPT-9000 or a wireless radio
operating under 3Ghz.
Q: Can you adjust the RF power output on
the FPT-5000 ?
A: On the standard configuration it is not adjustable, however we do
have a option that can be added to give you adjustment up to 65db at
2db increments.
Q: Can the FPT-5000 pass both CDMA and
GSM at the same time ?
A: Yes, the unit only cares about the frequency and not the type of
service. When used with the
RPT-9000, the CDMA and GSM traffic can pass to the FPT-5000 and
will be passed transparently at the same time. This assumes both
CDMA and GSM are picked up and in the path of the
RPT-9000.
Q: Where is the FPT-5000 mounted ?
A: The FTP-5000 can be mounted indoors or outdoors on a tower. The
unit is housed in a hardened, weatherproof NEMA 4 case.
Q: Does the FPT-5000 support redundancy
?
A: Yes, the FPT-5000 has 3 model options. The basic model does
NOT support redundancy. There is an option for Passive redundancy
which means the FPT-5000 is installed with a second Fiber module and
RF connector so
you can manually switch to a secondary fiber and RF cable in case of
hardware or optical cable failure. There is 3rd option for Active
redundancy. In addition to a second Fiber module and RF port, the unit contains
dual ethernet ports for internet access. This version monitors the
RF and Fiber signals, in the event of failure, the unit will
automatically switch over to the redundant module/port and notify via the
Internet.
Q: What type of connections does the FPT-5000
support?
A: On the Basic model, the unit has a Single "N Type" female
connector and a single Huber&Suhner E2000 (LSH) fiber connector.
We can include any Fiber Connectors you require such as SC, ST, LC,
FC, etc. The unit uses Single Mode Fiber. On
the Passive Redundant model, the unit will have an additional Huber&Suhner E2000 (LSH) fiber connector and "N Type" female
connector. The Active redundant model
has the same connectors as the Passive model, but includes (2) RJ-45 ethernet ports. All models have a Single AC power cord or optional
DC wire cable pair.
Q: Does the FPT-5000 have complicated
programming and setup ?
A: No, the FPT-5000 is extremely simple to setup and operate.
Depending on the model you choose, additional options are available
for internet access, alarms and remote communications.
Q: What type of power does the FPT-5000
use ?
A: The unit can support either 90-230vac or 12vdc power. Many units
are installed with solar power battery systems or with 48DC to AC
power inverters. The units uses approximately 3 amps of power.
Q: What is the warranty of the FPT-5000
?
A: The unit comes with a 2 year manufacturer warranty on the
hardware. This includes defective parts. The unit must be sent in
for repair depot service.
